Two teenagers have appeared in court after a boy, 17, was stabbed outside a busy shopping centre.

The teenagers, aged 15 and 17, were charged last Wednesday (September 13) with grievous bodily harm and possession of an offensive weapon.

They appeared in Stratford Youth Court on Thursday (September 14) where they were remanded in custody to appear at the same court today (September 18).

"We await an update from that hearing," police added.

Nine teenagers in total were arrested in connection with the incident which occurred last Tuesday (September 12).

Police were called at 9.01pm that day to reports of people fighting outside Westfield in Stratford, near the entrance of Stratford train station.

Metropolitan Police attended with British Transport Police officers and London Ambulance Service parademics.

A boy, 17, was taken to hospital in a critical condition with stab wounds, since assessed as not life-threatening.

Six of the boys arrested have been bailed pending further enquiries and one was released under investigation.
