An historic Edwardian building in Stratford is set to be "brought back to life" after a funding award to the scheme.
The National Lottery Heritage Fund has offered support and grants to a number of council-led schemes in Newham.
One of these is at Alice Billings House, which is set to become a reimagined space through the Creating Futures at Alice Billings House project.
The project will help preserve the protected building while turning it into a more useable space.
Creative Land Trust will "bring them (the buildings) back to life" with architect Purcell.
Gemma Dean, head of development at Creative Land Trust, said: "The brilliant thing about Alice Billings House is how it embodies so many facets of buildings, heritage and culture.
“With support from The National Lottery Heritage Fund, not only are we protecting a historic building and all the stories that live there; we and our partners are delivering an exciting space for creative production, celebrating Newham's culture and supporting the local economy."
The Grade II listed building was built in 1905 as accommodation for the firefighters of the West Ham Fire Brigade. The historic site also includes a practice and hose drying tower in the North Block.
The building was added to Historic England’s Heritage at Risk Register in 2019 and, after being vacant for 10 years, has been acquired by Creative Land Trust.
According to the Heritage Fund, the development is expected to “create a new bustling space that will bring creatives together”.
A spokesperson went on to say: “There will be studio space for around 80 artists and makers as well as a new exhibition space, community café, education programme and landscaped courtyard.”
The Heritage Fund is providing around £467,000 towards the project.
Liz Smith, chair and regional partner at Purcell, said: “It is an inspiring example of the local authority and the Creative Land Trust coming together to provide much-needed investment in local communities."
Theatre Royal Stratford East has also been given funding towards a project to mark a milestone birthday in 2024.
Titled 140 Years of Stratford East, the scheme has been awarded around £238,000 to showcase the venue's impact on British theatre and east London.
Other funding awards were made to arts organisation Frames of Mind, which received cash for a project studying the history of cycling in Forest Gate, and initial support towards a £1million plan to "transform" Forest Lane Park.
