A man has been charged with raping a woman.

Dancho Danchev, 39, of Woodford Green, was charged with rape, actual bodily harm and possession of a class B drug on Friday (January 12).

Police quickly launched an investigation last Thursday (January 11) after a report was made that a woman, in her 30s, was raped by a man in Stratford earlier that day.

Danchev first appeared at Thames Magistrates’ Court on Saturday (January 13) and he was remanded in custody to appear at Snaresbrook Crown Court on February 9.

Officers continue to support the woman while enquiries continue, the Metropolitan Police said.
