A man remains in a life-threatening condition after being shot with a gun.
Officers were called to East Road, Plaistow, at 11.59pm on Monday (January 22) to reports of a shooting.
A 25-year-old man was taken to hospital with a gunshot injury and remains in a life-threatening condition, Scotland Yard said.
His family have been informed.
The Metropolitan Police are seeking any witnesses who may know something, no matter how little.
Det Insp Mat Freeman, who is working on the investigation, said: "We know that when this happened there were members of public and vehicles driving nearby at the time.
"Did you capture anything on your phone, or on your dash cam if you were driving?
“Any piece of information, no matter how irrelevant it may seem, could be crucial in piecing together what happened."
