Former JB Jessop in East Ham high street could become flats

Two planning applications have been submitted to change the retail space that used to be JB Jessop, a two-storey terraced property, in High Street South into six flats. 

According to Google, JB Jessop is permanently closed. 

The applications advise that the retail space encompasses land from 71-75 High Street South, and used both the ground and first floors as a combined single retail unit. 

The applications submitted by Zaavia Design Ltd have been split in two, with one focusing on changes to the ground floor, and the second focusing on first floor changes.

If approved, this would include the demolition of existing extensions to create a garden space and the creation of a single storey extension to the rear with alterations to the front elevation. 

Proposals for the first floor have referred to plans to turn the space into three, three-bed flats.

This would require the single retail unit to be split in three, with a loft conversion to all. 

Alterations would be made to the shop front and rear dormers and front skylights would be added.
