A major supermarket chain has launched plans to open a new store in Beckton.
Supermarket giant Aldi has submitted a planning application to open at Beckton Triangle Retail Park, just off Claps Lane Gate.
The application was sent to Newham Council on March 22 and the council has until May 6 to make their decision before the application expires.
If approved, a 21,911 square-foot supermarket would replace the former Argos store in the retail park, becoming the first Aldi in Newham.
The size of the proposed site surpasses that of Aldi's standard stores by almost 2,000 square feet.
Aldi has detailed its plans to create an extension to the rear of the site to allow for warehousing and servicing in-store, as well as external changes to the front of the store.
Currently there are 457 available spaces assigned to the site but the application shows this number could be reduced to 450.

The 38 existing accessible spaces will remain the same, whilst parent and child bays would increase from nine spaces to 12.
The company also wishes to reposition the store's entrance to the left to create space for trolleys and cycle parking.
It is estimated that the development would be complete by September this year if given the go-ahead.
