Londoners are being advised to prepare for significant rainfall today, as a yellow weather warning remains in place until Friday morning.

The Met Office predicts that heavy rain will start at 5am today (Thursday) and continue through to 10am on Friday (September 27), potentially leading to flooding and major travel disruptions.

Authorities are urging residents across the city to remain vigilant and take necessary precautions, as conditions are expected to worsen throughout the day.

According to the Met Office, the downpour may result in power cuts, localised flooding, and disruption to bus and train services, with treacherous road conditions and possible road closures in some areas.

Certain roads may become blocked due to flooding, and there is a slight risk of fast-moving or deep water posing a serious hazard.

Although not all areas will experience the most severe impacts, heavy rain is likely to affect large parts of England and Wales from tonight into Friday morning.

Some locations could see as much as 20-30mm of rain in a couple of hours, with totals potentially reaching 40-60mm over a 4–6-hour period.
