An uninsured motorcyclist who killed a 73-year-old grandmother while pulling a wheelie on a busy High Street was jailed after admitting causing death by dangerous driving.

Ahrrus Hussain, 29, of Densham Road, Stratford was sentenced at Snaresbrook Crown Court to four years and nine months yesterday. He pleaded guilty to causing the death of Raxmo Sharif by dangerous driving in Leytonstone on July 25 last year.

In addition he admitted causing the death while driving uninsured and was sentenced to 12 months to run concurrently. He was also disqualified for seven years and ordered to take a re-test.

Police were called at about 4.45pm on July 25 2013 to reports of a collision between a motorcycle and a pedestrian outside the library in High Road, Leytonstone.

The pedestrian Raxmo Sharif was taken to Whipps Cross Hospital where she died later the same day. A post mortem gave the cause of death as multiple injuries.

Ahrrus Hussain who was riding the motorcycle was taken to hospital suffering minor injuries. He was subsequently discharged and was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.

During the court case it was revealed that while on bail for this offence, Ahrrus was prosecuted for driving an Audi car at 132mph on the A1 in August of this year, in contravention of his bail conditions.

Detective Sergeant Stuart Henson from the Road Death Investigation Unit said: “Mr Hussain’s dangerous and unacceptable riding caused fatal injuries to an innocent pedestrian. I would like to pay tribute to Mrs Sharif’s family for their resolve throughout the enquiry.”
