George Moncur admitted he feels 'very privileged' to be at Leyton Orient, as they prepare to host Newport County in League Two on Saturday.
Moncur helped O's secure a 2-0 win at nearest rivals Barrow last weekend to extend their unbeaten start to the season to 10 matches.
And a ninth league win of the campaign left them five points clear at the top of the table as they return to Brisbane Road to welcome the Exiles.
"I'm very privileged to be here and hopefully this run continues throughout the whole season," Moncur told the club website.
"It's a massive win. The spirit in the team, the togetherness we've got, I've not been in a changing room like it.
"That was probably the hardest start to a game I've had all year. It was hard to get on the ball the first 20 minutes and they really boxed us in our own half. We couldn't really get out."
O's weathered the early storm and broke the deadlock when Theo Archibald's run and pass set up Paul Smyth to slot into the corner.
And Moncur praised the Irishman, adding: "I think when the game opened up, we had enough, and obviously it showed, with the little man [Smyth] to get the first goal.
"We've got such quality players here, that can change the game in a blink of an eye.
"That's exactly what you need in a game like that, one bit of quality to open the door and then get a second with another great goal, kills them off."
Moncur went close to adding a second himself with a volley that went just wide, before Idris El Mizouni opened his account for the club with a low drive from 25 yards.
"I try and effect the game as much as I can," added Moncur.
"Different games, obviously it's hard to make a big impact in some games, but you've just got to keep your head down, keep working hard, and hopefully the chances will come.
"I love him [El Mizouni] to bits to play with. He tries to run with the ball as much as he can, he's defensively brilliant, and he is quality composed on the ball.
"I'm delighted for him. Every time I see the ball go over my head, he seems to be there. It's a great trait to have in that midfield position."
O's kept a fourth successive clean sheet in the league - and seventh in 10 games - to secure another three points.
And Moncur wants more of the same from Richie Wellens' side, adding: "It's unreal. I don't think I've ever played in a team where we've had so many clean sheets.
"It's something new for me to be fair! Always either getting beat or drawing. It's lovely to see and hopefully it continues throughout the year."
