Leyton Orient got the new year off to a fine start with success at Abbey Stadium.
A quickfire double from Jordan Brown and Dan Agyei, just before the hour mark, proved decisive for Richie Wellens' men to come away with the points.
Agyei hit the outside of a post on nine minutes after being found by Theo Archibald in the box.
And Tom James flicked an Archibald corner just wide at the near post on 14 minutes before George Thomas teed up Jack Lankester and he fired over.
Archibald rattled the crossbar with a powerful effort from 25 yards on 28 minutes, with Idris El Mizouni seeing his cross tipped away by Jack Stevens and Shaq Forde unable to convert at the far post.
Stevens pushed Agyei's tight-angled shot behind, before Danny Andrew fired over for the hosts as the scoreline remained blank at the break.
But O's broke the deadlock nine minutes into the second half when a Max Sanders corner was not cleared and Brown slotted home.
Three minutes later and it was 2-0 as Agyei picked up a loose ball and fired past Stevens from a tight angle, before making way for Joe Pigott in the first change of the day.
Pigott fired wide after being found by Sanders and then shaved the crossbar with a well-struck effort soon after, before Lankester headed over for the home side from a left-wing cross on 83 minutes.
But O's had done enough to take the points and start 2024 on the right note.
